Boinx iStopMotion is especially appealing to educators world wide. Stop Motion animation is a very creative art form which makes it an ideal part of the Fine Arts curriculum. Professional uses

Of course, Stop Motion animation is an art form with a strong history and many uses in the 2D and 3D animation space. Professional users appreciate the high quality that iStopMotion produces by using uncompressed images and the many cool high end features like editing of frames in an external image editor like Adobe Photoshop. Boinx Software has announced an iStopMotion Pro version to be available later this year to support higher resolution and more professional level features.

Stop Motion animation also is a fun pastime for home users of the digital hub. A free Lite license is available if you want to have fun with the kids but do not plan to produce a high resolution movie. For more advanced users, iStopMotion integrates seamlessly with iMovie and iDVD for inexpensive production of professional movies on DVD.

Boinx iStopMotion 1.0 is available immediately for download at http://www.istopmotion.com/download . It requires a valid license to operate. The free Lite license can be obtained from the Website. It offers all features but limits the resolution of the captured frames to 320 x 240 pixels. The DV license can be purchased online and sells for US$ 39,95. A special introductory offer at US$ 35.95 is valid through June 30th, 2003. A 7 day demo license can also be requested online. Boinx iStopMotion V1.0 Preview Release/Special introductory price

Development of 1.0 release nearly complete

"Boinx iStopMotion V1.0 Preview finally has the quality we can accept for a 1.0 release," says Oliver Breidenbach, Head of the Boinx Software Division of GeBE Computer & Peripherie GmbH. "We still have to polish some rough edges, but the software is getting close to release quality." For example, Boinx iStopMotion will include comprehensive documentation when the 1.0 final ships.

New cool features

The outstanding new feature is the ability to edit frames directly in an external image editor like Adobe Photoshop. The edited frames are automatically reimported into Boinx iStopMotion after saving in the image editor. Another cool new feature is the blinking mode, where the current video feed is displayed in rapid alteration with the last captured frame. Other new features give the UI a more complete feeling, like the context menus. A full list of the new features can be found in the ReadMe file that accompanies the package.

Free Lite License

Boinx iStopMotion now requires a license to operate. Three licensing options are available: a free Lite license, that has all the features and allows movies to have a resolution of up to 320 x 240 pixels, suitable for Internet-Distribution; a DV license, regularly priced at $39.95 (for non-EU customers) / Euro 41.00 (incl. 16% German VAT for EU customers) allows you to create Movies in DV resolution, suitable for editing with iMovie or Final Cut Pro/Express and distribution on DVD; and a Pro version, that will be available later this year and offer higher resolution. Pro Beta Program

A lot of current Boinx iStopMotion users already use higher resultion than DV. For them, Boinx Software offers a Pro Beta Program that lets them continue to use iStopMotion at higher resolutions.

Before June 30th, customers can purchase the iStopMotion DV license at a special introductory rate of US$ 35.95 (for non-EU customers) / Euro 37.00 (incl. German VAT for EU customers).
