mimoLive 4.3: Social Media Content for Your NDI® Workflow

Germering, September 8th, 2018 – Version 4.3 of the Apple Design Award winning live video production application mimoLive - The Multi-In, Multi-Out Live Video Engine for the Mac is now available from Boinx Software. Integration of social media content such as Facebook comments, Facebook reactions and Facebook page likes along with Twitter tweets, Instagram photos and more is the focus of the release which also features numerous enhancements and fixes.

“Our commitment to provide the best live streaming application on the Mac continues with this latest release focused on features most requested by visitors to our NAB booth,” says Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. “Engaging the audience is the holy grail of live video and the best way to do this is by allowing users to interact with the hosts and the live video.”

“Software-driven IP workflows are quickly becoming ubiquitous in video production, with NDI® being the most widely adopted IP technology on the market accessible to millions of customers today. Products like mimoLive create opportunities for customers that did not previously exist,” said Michael Kornet, executive vice president and general manager of NDI for NewTek.

Facebook Comments

Moderating and answering comments on air is the key to successful audience engagement. mimoLive now offers an affordable and easy way to monitor incoming comments and to put them on air for the audience to read along. Comments can be shown as a continuous flow or one by one. The new Social Media source lets you grab the comments of any live video stream your Facebook account has access to.

Facebook Reactions

User reactions to your live stream are a great way to let viewers participate. For example you can let them vote on an issue and display the results in near real-time in your stream. Audiences love to give feedback like this and it’s a great way to ensure a high level of interaction with your post.

Facebook Page Likes

A bigger audience is always better and giving them the gratification of seeing the counter go up in your live stream when they click on that Like button on your page will help you to grow yours. The counter can be linked to any of your pages and shows the number of Likes in almost real-time.

Twitter, Instagram And More

mimoLive already offers integration with Twitter, allowing you to moderate tweets and show a stream of your favorites. You can also easily show photos from Instagram in your live video and get the chat messages from your Twitch stream. The Screen Capture source also lets you capture content from almost any discussion or comments platform like Discord.

Out Of The Box Ideas

mimoLive also includes a way to let viewers control a PTZ camera via Twitter hashtags or commands in Facebook comments. For example, this would let you set up a camera in a show room and viewers could decide what the want to look at. This experience is almost magical and ensures a high level of interaction with your live stream which is good for your ranking.

Playout via NDI and SDI

Providing this content to your workflow is possible by playing out the graphics with transparency via NDI® and SDI. This makes it easy to integrate mimoLive with your existing equipment.

mimoLive 4.1: PTZ via NDI®, HTML based broadcast graphics

Germering, June 5th, 2018 – Version 4.1 of the Apple Design Award winning live video production application mimoLive - The Multi-In, Multi-Out Live Video Engine for the Mac is now available. The new version allows users to control PTZ Cameras via NewTek's NDI® protocol and adds a Web Browser source that enables utilizing HTML5/CSS/JavaScript based broadcast graphics. InfoComm attendees can get their hands on mimoLive 4.1 at the PTZOptics booth (N664).

"The trend for software technologies in broadcasting continues. After NDI®, we're enabling users to utilize HTML5/CSS/JavaScript based broadcast graphics like the singular.live platform or the various overlay services for gamers," says Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. "This reinforces our commitment to creating the most versatile live stream production application."

PTZ via NDI®

In addition to the NewTek NDI|HX camera, a growing number of PTZ camera suppliers, including PTZOptics and Panasonic, now offer NDI® enabled cameras. The pan, tilt and zoom of those cameras can now be controlled directly from the mimoLive Multiviews via NDI®. Users can also set and recall preset positions, which allows them to create multiple virtual camera angles and switch easily between them. Combined with another cool mimoLive feature you can set up a camera that can be controlled by your viewers via Twitter or Facebook which is a great way to engage your audience.

HTML5 Broadcast Graphics

The new Web Browser source supports transparent HTML5/CSS/JavaScript pages that can display overlay broadcast graphics. New platforms such as singular.live provide easy to use components ranging from simple lower thirds to complex sports scoring. With mimoLive you can not only use them in your live streams, but also play them out via SDI or NDI® to your existing broadcast production workflows.

Other Web Content

The Web Browser source can also be used to include other Web content in your video. For example you can capture a discussion in your chat room, discuss cryptostock charts or feature photos from various platforms in your production.

mimoLive 4: Multi-Endpoint Streaming, Social Media And More

Germering, March 22nd, 2018 – Version 4 of the Apple Design Award winning live video production application mimoLive - The Multi-In, Multi-Out Live Video Engine for the Mac is now available. The new version improves live video producer’s lives by adding easy multi-endpoint streaming, a process to work with viewer comments on YouTube and Facebook, a multi-view to keep an eye on your video sources and much more. mimoLive 4 will be shown at the NDI® Pavilion (booth SL5516) at NAB in Las Vegas.

“mimoLive 4 is the 21st release of mimoLive since we rebranded from BoinxTV in 2016, not counting beta releases,” says Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. “This fast pace of development is what we hoped to achieve with switching to a new business model for mimoLive. This new release is a milestone, because we’ve redesigned the whole output part to make mimoLive even more useful.”

Multi-Out To The Max

mimoLive 4 now makes it very easy to ingest to multiple streaming servers at the same time. For example, you can simultaneously stream to YouTube or Facebook and your own streaming servers. YouTube, Facebook and Twitch are supported via API and are very comfortable to use. Other services and servers can be used with standard RTMP.

Aux Audio

mimoLive is used in ever more challenging scenarios that require more than just the operator to be getting an audio feed. For example a moderator in the studio would need to get a different audio feed than the operator in the editor booth, especially if talking to remote guests via the mimoCall service. mimoLive 4 can now define multiple aux audio mixes.

YouTube and Facebook Comments

Encouraging audience interaction is getting ever more important. Posts with lots of comments and reactions are ranked higher by the algorithms. The best way to achieve that is to react to comments during the live show and mimoLive makes this easier than ever with a new workflow for just that purpose.

Keep An Eye On Your Sources

When live editing, it is important to see all available video sources in order to be able to make a good decision on what camera angle to show on the spot. mimoLive adds two independent, freely configurable multi-views, one inside the main window if you only have one display and another one in an external window that you can display on a second screen. Both can be used to trigger the Switcher layer so that the editor only has to point and click on the source they want to show. The multi-views can be configured in a number of layouts with up to 10 source views.

UI Customisation And More

With the new layout for the main window, the available screen real estate can now be used much more effectively and be tailored to the operator’s needs by resizing the columns and the layer preview. A new Levels filter allows users to quickly adjust the white balance of the attached video sources to make them look better and more “alike” without having to go through the camera menus. An Auto-Switching layer periodically or randomly switches up to 9 sources. And last but not least, a large number of reported issues have been fixed.

NAB 2018 Las Vegas

Boinx Software will demo mimoLive 4 and how it’s integrating perfectly with the NDI® world at the NDI® Pavilion (Booth SL5516) at NAB 2018 in Las Vegas from April 9th to April 12th. (NDI® is a registered trademark of NewTek, Inc.)
